OUR 2008 FISHING TRIP TO A "LITTLE HUNK OF HEAVEN"

Sherie and I went to Canada fishing again in August 2008 -- this may be an annual event for us. We again stayed at Campbell's Cabins on Lac La Croix. They are located on the Canadian/American border just north of Duluth, MN. We like to go to Canada fishing at this time of year because there are no bugs and the weather is usually cool. We "catch and release" all fish - except for a couple of walleye for our shore lunch each day.

The end of our 1010 mile drive. We board our float plane on Crane Lake, MN. Carole Scott, of Scott's Resort and Seaplane Base and Sherie, are making sure I handle the luggage correctly!!

The boat and airplane dock -- this is probably the busiest place at Campbells, especially at 8:00 AM and 4:00 PM. Their four float planes head out, taking people canoeing, taking fishermen to other lakes or taking folks back to Crane Lake. In the mornings the boats head out for another day of fishing - and return later in the day with worn out fishermen.

Our goal the first thing each morning is to catch some walleyes for lunch. I scored early.

Sherie's caught a dandy walleye for her shore lunch.

Our guide Gordy with a nice walleye.

A big ol` hard fighting northern. These rascals are found all over Lac La Croix. But they are fish and and they are fun to catch!

Sherie has latched on to decent a smallmouth ... while fishing for walleye. Oh well, it's time for lunch.

It's time for lunch and nobody does it better than Gordy! Fresh walleye, potatos, beans, corn and fresh sliced onions. On a pretty little island with a lake view.

Back to fishing - Gordy has caught another northern.

We fished for smallmouth with leeches this year - that's a first for me - YUK.

Twin Falls, on the east end of Lac La Croix, is always a nice place to visit. This is beautiful country and worth a visit by anyone!

Lunch and sightseeing is over -- we are back to fishing for smallmouth.

Gordy had landed a nice size smallmouth.

WOW -- this is what I came for. I fought this sucker for, oh, maybe 25 seconds. It's a good thing I had 8lb test line.
